In a nutshell, Chinese people are culturally conditioned to prioritize their routine, which includes deeply ingrained habits and rituals, while you are likely more focused on specifics and results.
Being "open and honest" while putting all your cards on the table doesn't translate to someone more trustworthy in Chinese culture. With this approach, it's like chickens chirping at quacking ducks in search of common ground, referred to in Chinese as 鸡同鸭讲 jītóngyājiǎng, so let's explore an alternative path to reach your preferred destination. Align on "process."
